Surrey County Development Squad 11th Feb 2018

Match Report: Surrey County Development Squad v Middlesex – February 2018

The Surrey County development girls played the Middlesex squad in an hour long match at Cranleigh School on Sunday 11th February.

When the girls met a couple of months earlier it was a very closely contensted match with Surrey only winning by one goal.
With nerves at the start of the match each centre pass was being converted to a goal for the 2 teams. But once the girls had settled down in the first quarter, with some excellent defensive skills from all 7 players on court Surrey were able to slowly pull away and take a 7 goal lead by the end of the 1st quarter.
Middlesex regrouped and the 2nd quarter went goal for goal with only 1 goal in it, keeping Surrey ahead by 8 goals. Half-time score, Surrey 23  Middlesex  15.
A team talk and change of a few positions, plus some orange slices to refresh the girls, meant the Surrey girls had a new lease of energy in the 3rd quarter and worked hard on every movement and pass to further their lead by 4 goal. Quarter 3 score, Surrey 36  Middlesex 24.

In the final quarter tiredness was starting to show with some errors being made and centre passes going to the opposition on both sides, resulting in 8 goals each being scored.
Final score: Surrey 44  Middlesex 32

Well done to all the girls who played in this match and all the hard work at training is showing during your match play.

Squad: Amy Caporn, Anna Kennedy, Annabel Arbuthnott, Eloise Thompson,  Joani Baker, Flossie C-Bundy, Georgia Thomson, Jessica Edwards, Josephine Baker, Lauryn Campbell, Martha Hill, Molly Swain, Tamara Buamah.
