Vitality Roses nominated for BBC’s Greatest Sporting Moment of the Year

The Greatest Sporting Moment of the Year nominations have been revealed for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2018.

The Vitality Roses wrote their names into the nation’s sporting history after they secured a last-second win over Australia at the Commonwealth Games in April 2018. That inspiring moment has been shortlisted for the prestigious award and voting is now open to the public via the BBC Sport website.

It’s been another fantastic year for sport across the board, which is evident from the exciting nominated moments that the Roses are up against in the Greatest Sporting Moment of the Year category.

This includes England’s win against Colombia on penalties to reach the quarter-finals of the football World Cup, the moment Alastair Cook reached a century in cricket during his last Test innings before retiring, Tiger Woods’ win at the season-ending of the golfing Tour Championship, and Tyson Fury coming back from two knockdowns against Deontay Wilder.

The winners will be announced at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards ceremony in Birmingham, which takes place on 16 December 2018.

Don’t forget to submit your vote here for the Vitality Roses before 20.00 on Friday 14 December.

Following the awards ceremony, the Roses will next come together as a team in January, when they will face four of the world’s best netball teams in the Vitality Netball International Series, as part of the Netball Quad Series, for the last time before the highly-anticipated Vitality Netball World Cup in July 2019.
