We are looking for some more umpires to enable this competition to take place........can you help?
One of the early netball events of the London Youth Games 2019 will be the Year 7 competition (which is also part of the national School Games). Schools will come from every London Borough.
We are looking for officials (C Award and above) to act as volunteer officials on the day. This used to be held at Crystal Palace Sports Centre but for the second year we are using the Redbridge Netball Centre (outside courts) on Tuesday 26 March from 9.15am until about 3pm. There are more courts than at Crystal Palace and somewhere warm if needed close by. The March weather can be unpredictable!
The approx. 16 or so officials will not only be umpiring but we also ask that they mentor some young volunteers who are beginning their umpiring journey and will be assisting on court. In prior years all the young people have attended an introduction to umpiring course and there is an adult supervisor who will work closely with you all.
The young athletes will be of varying abilities but I always enjoy seeing so much excitement and enthusiasm for the competition and for netball. It is a great advert for our sport.
If you would be interested in joining fellow umpires, coaches and netballers at the London Youth Games (part of the largest sporting event in Europe) please could you email me as soon as possible at lindsaysartori@msn.com providing me with your EN membership number and identify whether you are a C, B or A award official.
Volunteer expenses are £40 for the day – there will be some hot drinks available but please bring lunch – and any umpiring friends. for those of you who came last year - there is a scheduled lunch break! Jan
We shall be working with other volunteers from the LYG Games Force.
