With the success of the Walking Netball initiative by England Netball, Playnetball.com have set up their first walking netball group in Beckenham. Starting on 2nd February, this group aims to give people the opportunity to be more active, meet new people and have fun.
Kerry Brooks from Playnetball.com is the host of this group. She has been coaching netball on and off for the last 7 years and completed her Walking Netball Host training course last year. After recovering from a netball injury, Kerry became interested in walking netball as a way to keep active and wanted to provide more opportunities for people to play netball again. As well as physical side of walking netball, Kerry understands the importance of socialising and having a good giggle to lift your mood and maintain good mental health.
The sessions will run at HSBC Sports and Social Club, Beckenham, BR3 1QW from 11am - noon, each Friday. This will be followed by tea, coffee and cake in the lounge, giving players a chance to chat and socialise.
Walking Netball is a slowed down version of the game so it is suitable for anyone looking to exercise in a relaxed, supported and friendly environment.
The first session is free and £4 per session afterwards.
